Graduated from the Faculty of Molecular and Chemical Physics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics in 1990. After 3 years he defended his Ph.D. thesis in the specialty "chemical physics, including the physics of combustion and explosion" at the Department of Physics of Combustion and Explosion of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. In 2007 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Development and research of highly efficient systems for digital processing of dynamic images and assessment of its quality."

The experience of scientific and pedagogical work is 28 years, of which the experience of pedagogical work is 11 years. Reads lecture courses: "Basics of data compression and video information", "Digital transmission of video information", "Digital broadcasting systems", "Measurements in video information systems", etc., conducts practical classes at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the National Research University MPEI.

Author of over 140 scientific works, including 6 monographs and 14 patents.
Has more than 25 years of experience in organizing and conducting scientific research. A highly qualified specialist in the field of coding and transmission of multimedia information. Based on the results of his scientific activities, 5 systems for the transmission of audiovisual information were introduced, including for higher education.

In 2004, he was awarded a prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology (creation of a satellite communication system) for success in production activities.

Main directions of activity:

  • development and implementation of image compression algorithms into the created video codecs, including adaptive quantization, fast motion search, optimized bases of multiband wavelet decomposition;
  • synthesis of new highly efficient window functions with given parameters used in the development of audio encoders and adaptive antenna arrays;
  • development of methods for digital transmission of multimedia information, on the basis of which the RAVIS digital terrestrial multimedia broadcasting system (RAVIS, Real-time AudioVisual Information System), which is superior to world analogs, was created and standardized in the Russian Federation; the implementation of its experimental zones is being carried out in four cities of Russia;
  • development of algorithms for analyzing and measuring parameters of digital signals, using which measuring complexes for analog and digital TV and radio broadcasting have been created;
  • development of methods for calculating multiband wavelet bases that are optimal for various applications, including compression of images and video;
  • implementation of computer video conferencing systems used for satellite communications, distance learning, telemedicine.

  • author and co-author of over 150 scientific works and inventions, including a patent for a useful model "Mobile video conferencing terminal".
